The project led by Prof. Dr. Füsun Can, Chair of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Koç University School of Medicine and Deputy Director of KUISCID, has been awarded a prestigious grant supporting scientific collaboration between Türkiye and Germany. The project has been funded under the TÜBİTAK 2507 – Bilateral Cooperation Program with the German Research Foundation (DFG).Titled “Cellular and Extracellular Immune Alterations Triggered by CCHFV Infection,” the project aims to investigate immune responses and long-term outcomes in Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), which is listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a priority research area. With a particular focus on the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in disease pathogenesis and the clinical validation of T-cell responses, the project stands out for its innovative approach.Bringing together a multidisciplinary team of experts from Türkiye and Germany, the project includes researchers from KUISCID: Prof. Dr. Önder Ergönül, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mert Kuşkucu, and Dr. Cansel Vatansever. International collaborators include Dr. Chrysanthi Skevaki and Dr. Janis Müller from Philipps University Marburg, Germany, as well as Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Özden from Erzurum University, Türkiye. We congratulate all our researchers who contributed to this important achievement.
