The international training meeting titled “Pet-related and Emerging Zoonotic Infections,” organized by the Hong Kong Hospitals Authority, brought together the world’s leading infectious disease experts in Hong Kong on October 23–24, 2025.

The meeting, with the participation of scientists from the UK, China, Thailand, and Turkey, aimed to develop joint global strategies against zoonotic infections. The two-day program discussed the impact of factors such as climate change, international travel, and animal production chains on the spread of infections.

KUISCID Director Prof. Önder Ergönül, was the only invited speaker from Türkiye. Prof. Ergönül gave speeches in four different sessions in which he shared Türkiye’s current scientific situation in the field and emphasized KUISCID’s active role in global collaborations.
