KUISCID Director Prof. Önder Ergönül and Assoc. Prof. Savaş Taşoğlu from the Faculty of Engineering co-advised the study conducted by a medical student Defne Yığcı and published the article “Mpox diagnosis at POC” in the journal “Trends in Biotechnology”. The article demonstrates the potential of “Point-of-Care” (POC) based tests developed for the diagnosis of Mpox and their potential directly to be used at patient bedside. The study also evaluates the difficulties faced while developing such tools such as cost, education and logistics that prevent the widespread use of these systems.
