Measles Cases and Risk of Outbreak

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that its funding of the Global Measles and Rubella Laboratory Network (GMRLN) has ended after 25 years of funding. Unfortunately, the network consists of more than 700 laboratories in more than 150 countries and plays a critical role in detecting measles cases. Health experts emphasize that preserving laboratory capacity is vital, noting that measles cases have been increasing worldwide in recent years. Assoc. Prof. Şiran Keske, a researcher at KUISCID who has been working on measles, answered the questions of a National Public Radio (NPR) editor for the unknowns and future risks of the issue.
