KUISCID researchers in collaboration with Harvard University published their study “FABP4 as a therapeutic host target controlling SARS-CoV-2 infection” in one of the high impact journals in the field “EMBO Molecular Medicine” (EMM). The study showed that FABP4 (fatty acid binding protein 4) is a critical host factor that inhibits virus effects in COVID-19 infection, and that suppressing FABP4 by genetic or chemical means prevents viral infection and lung damage and is valid against all variants.
