KUISCID researchers, in collaboration with Koç University College of Sciences, have published their study “PEGylated Hemicyanine-Based Dual-Mode Phototherapy Platform with Robust Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Activity against High Priority Pathogens” in ACS Applied Bio Materials journal.
The study tested a special molecule called “HoB-PEG” which is activated by laser irradiation to kill antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their biofilms with heat and free radical generation without cytotoxic effects.
