Delphi Study: Critical Findings of Antimicrobial Use in 4 Different Countries

KUISCID researchers examined the causes of antibiotic overuse and misuse in Türkiye, Italy, Greece, and Portugal and published their findings in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases. The study, titled “Determinants of antibiotic misuse and overuse in high-risk countries in the European region: a multidisciplinary Delphi study,” was conducted with the contribution of 109 experts working in 52 cities across four countries. Through the findings, six primary causes of antibiotic misuse were identified  and 21 solutions within international consensus were proposed. The study further underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in combating antibiotic resistance.
