The European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) “Method-oriented practical laboratory training” was organized in Istanbul under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Karatuna, a member of KUISCID Advisory Board and responsible for the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center on the Standardization of Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.
Together with the support of the WHO European Office, the course provided an important opportunity to introduce KUISCID to participants, trainers, and researchers from Central Asian countries (Turkmenistan and Tajikistan). KUISCID and Clinical Laboratory jointly completed the training that Dr. Oskar Ekelund, Director of the EUCAST Development Laboratory (EDL) and the European Union Public Health Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance (EURL-PH-AMR), and Marcello Gelormini, a WHO official also attended. The three day program was successfully completed with 25 participants between September 22nd and 25th.
