The Public Health Volunteers Project, led by Prof. Sibel Sakarya and Assoc. Prof. İlker Kayı from the Department of Public Health at Koç University School of Medicine, has entered its second term with an expanded scope, bringing the young people together directly into the field.

As part of the post-disaster recovery process, a total of 24 young volunteers from Hatay, Adıyaman, and Kahramanmaraş Umut Kentleri came together in Hatay to strengthen their skills in digital health literacy in the name of combating misinformation (infodemic).

The training sessions, held with contributions of Assoc. Prof. Suncem Koçer and Bahadır Öz from Koç University’s Department of Media and Visual Arts, included presentations and workshops on health literacy, the information ecosystem, digital platform algorithms, effective communication, campaign design, and digital communication strategies.

With this new phase, the project aims to reach much wider audiences through awareness campaigns carried out on social media, where young people are positioned not only as consumers of information but also as active content creators and peer educators, .

We would like to thank all stakeholders who contributed to the project.
